Mt. Phongun Razi - Towering 11921 ft, 3635 meters above the sea is the most suitable peak to scale among the many peaks in the region. Generally covered with snow between November and May is about 85 kilometer North West of Putao near Myanmar - Indian border. The remoteness and difficult accessibility of the region has help maintain the pristine purity of it forest and eco-systems offering unparalleled opportunities to present-day professionals in the field of zoology, botany, forestry, environmental protection, conservation and ecology as well as hardy eco-tourists and mountaineers who prefer the challenge of a testing back-packing trip in the mountain fastness to a routine attractions in the more accessible urban centers.

Fri - Day 01 Arrival - Putao

Upon arrival at Putao airport you will be met by Putao trekking house's representative and transferred to your guest house. Putao, lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. After a brief fresh up and light lunch take a walk around Putao for the orientation. Dinner and overnight at Putao trekking house. (L,D).

Sat - Day 02 Putao - Shangaung - Wasandum (jeep/trek)

Breakfast and visit attractive Putao market often fills with colorful ethnic minorities. Depart by jeep or truck depending on the group size to upper Shangaung (17 km, approx one hour) on a rugged road. Your adventure starts as you get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum (20 km, approx 6 hours) trek through Mt. Shangaung at 4468 ft, 1362 meters. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be the testing journey as you have to ascend from 1060 meters up to 1362 meters and then descend back to 860 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situates by Namro creek. Check in at your guest house and for those who wish to wash up may go to Namro creek to do so with crystal clean water. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum guest house in dormitory style. (B,L,D).

Sun - Day 03 Wasandum - Awadum - Kalang - Ziyadum (trek)

Breakfast and depart by jeep/truck to upper Shangaung (17 km, approx one hour) on a rugged road. Shangaung has two separate villages and inhabitant of both Lisu and Rawan tribes. Your adventure starts as we get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum (20 km, approx 6 hours) trek through Mt. Shangaung at 4468 ft, 1362 meters. Pack lunch on the way and continue trek to Wasandum. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. Mon - Day 04 Ziyadum - Chaungsone - Thitpingyi (trek)

Breakfast and continue trek to Chaungsone (9.6 km, approx 3 hour) leaving human inhabitant behind. At first we cross Phangran creek by a suspension bridge and trek through evergreen forests with slightly ups and downs. Lunch stop and continue trek, cross another suspension bridge spans over Namya creek and continue steep and uphill trek on mule track until we reach to lower Thitpingyi camp, situate at 4800 ft, 1460 meters above sea level (3.2 km, approx 2 hours). This will be of your first night of wildness camping. Dinner and overnight at camp. (B,L,D)

Tue - Day 05 Lower Thitpingyi - Upper Thitpingyi - Khantautmyit (trek)

Breakfast and continue trek up hill to upper Thitpingyi camp (2.5 km, approx one hour) along the mule trek. From here continue trek to Khantautmyit camp, situate 8500 ft, 2575 meters above sea (4.8 km, approx 6 hours). After a few km we trek up on mule trek we get our selves in to the jungle trek goes through deep ups and down with narrow shoulder of a smaller cliff. Trekking route goes through variety of forest type and bird life as we passing through evergreen forest in to hill pine and now into moist upper deciduous forest. You will notice Rhododendron flowers in their blossom and trees having thick moss on them. Khantautmyit is one of the most beautiful spots having large tree with colorful Rhododendron bushes around. Dinner and overnight at Khantautmyit camp. (B,L,D)/p>

Wed - Day 06 Khantautmyit - Snow line (trek)

Breakfast and continue trek to snow line, elevation approximately 10000 ft, 3050 meters (6.4 km, approx 3 - 4 hours) trek depends on camp site location. Trek route will be a challenging one with narrow line however beautiful pine elevation with moist upper deciduous forest yet fill with Rhododendron make the scenery impressive. There are three different camp sites on snow line and we will find right spot for camping according to the snowfall. We shall have our dinner and overnight at camp. Tonight you will have to prepare for cold weather as temperature could be freezing during the night. Dinner and overnight at camp. (B,L,D)

Thu - Day 07 Snow line - Mt. Phongun summit - Khantautmyit (trek)

Breakfast and trek to the summit of Mt. Phongun at 11920 ft, 3635 meters. The distance is just little over 3 km, but depending on snow conditions, it could take us anything between 3 to 7 hours. The time you spend on the summit will depend on weather conditions. If the weather is clear, it is possible to experience spectacular views all round and see as far as the lands of India's Assam to the west. Lunch stop at the camp and continue journey back to Khantautmyit camp. Dinner and overnight at camp. (B,L,D)

Fri - Day 08 Khantautmyit - Thitpingyi (trek)

Breakfast and relax through the morning admiring the fantastic surrounding. After early lunch trek back to Thitpingyi camp through the trek winding ups and downs with constantly changing topography, flora and fauna. The trek is relatively easy as we will be mostly on mule trek. Dinner and overnight at camp. (B,L,D)

Sat - Day 09 Thitpingyi - Chaungzone - Ziyadum (trek)

Breakfast and trek to Ziyadum passing Chaungsone camp through nice and easy down hill on mule trek. Once cross Namya creek by suspension bridge you get in to dense evergreen forest and route goes through winding along Phangran creek. Hot shower and a warm bed by all mean will be of a greatest enjoyment and comfort after several rugged camping nights in the jungle. Relax through the afternoon and shall have a celebrating dinner over bonfire and enjoy comfortable night. Overnight at Ziyadum guest house. (B,L,D)

Sun - Day 10 Ziyadum - Wasandum (trek)

Sun - Day 10 Ziyadum - Wasandum (trek) Enjoy another lazy morning and after an early lunch bid farewell to the locals and head back to your today destination, Awadum crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful evergreen avenues. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum guest house. (B,L,D)

Mon - Day 11 Wasundum - Shangaung - Putao (trek/jeep)

Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization. As soon as we start the trek goes challenging uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before continuing rapidly downhill to Shangaung where our jeep meets us and takes us back to Putao. Pack lunch on the way. Enjoy a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters to commemorate the experience that we've shared for the past week in this unique part of the world. Overnight at Putao trekking house. (B,L,D)

Tue - Day 12 Departure

Tue - Day 12 Departure Breakfast and visit attractive Putao market for last minute shopping etc. Later transfer to airport for your onward departure flight to conclude this unique experience. (B)
